Figures from “RC62 Recommendations For Fire Safety”, show that 49% of fires caused by a Solar PV system originate from DC isolators with a further 19% originating from inverters. Both these items should be routinely accessible at the time of a system maintenance visit and therefore can be checked for heat traces using our thermal imaging equipment. This is by far the simplest, quickest, and probably the most efficient, (if not the only), means of checking for sources of heat caused by poor contacts, loose terminals and undersized conductors.
